– Southern Railway (SOU) “Serves the South Repaint” 1965+ is the third of three Southern Railway classic red repaint schemes released by Tangent in 2026 and as applied to these 1951/1952 built Pullman-Standard PS-1s.  This 1965+ version of Southern has large “SOUTHERN SERVES THE SOUTH” stenciling applied to the left side of the car, plus a large road number.  This beautiful car has a yellow “DF” applied to the door, to confirm that the car was indeed an XML car with loading devices.  The right side of the car includes a return stencil: “SPECIALLY EQUIPPED CAR RETURN PROMPTLY WHEN EMPTY TO SOU. RAILWAY AT ANY JUNCTION POINT.”  These models have the early version of the Superior 9’ door, and Miner handbrake housings and wheels like the prototype did.  These models ride on Tangent’s gorgeous Barber S-2 50-Ton plain bearing truck, complete with separate brake beam detail.
