A non-turbocharged companion to the GP20, the GP18 was externally very similar. Found on roads large and small, the GP18 proved to be reliable power on mainlines and branchlines all across America. The low front nose was a new option, along with a one-piece windshield. Many of these would be rebuilt and some are still in operation today. With new tooling for the GP18 carbody variations, this new model features many road-specific details like dynamic brakes, roof fans, Mars lights and rooftop details as appropriate.
